what services do we offer?

  • All age and gender open play and skill clinics (indoor and outdoor)

  • Girls and Boys indoor local sessions

  • Girls indoor travel club teams

Private lessons can be set up during some parts of the year based on gym availability. Contact Hylee Shelton at hylee@wildflowervolleyball.com for more questions and pricing information.

Open play and skill clinics:

There will be no set schedule for open play days and skills clinics, we will set up days based on available gym and grass field time. Keep an eye on our events page, or give us a follow on Instagram to see days and times.

Girls and Boys local sessions:

Local sessions were designed for athletes who want to learn the basics of volleyball or advance their current skills. Local sessions will teach basic volleyball rules and systems, and will have all athletes learn all positions to gain a better general understanding of the game. We will sort athletes into groups by age and skill level, so those athletes who are ready to move on to learning more advanced systems and strategies will have that opportunity.

Practices will be 2 hours long and will be approximately 1 hour of drills and 1 hour of play. Our first session will include 20 practices starting on 11/12 and ending around the end of January / beginning of February. Practices will mostly be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm-5pm at Victor Valley College. We understand this is a difficult time slot with a lot of athletes school schedules, please keep that in mind before deciding to sign up. Practice times and days are subject to change based off of gym availability, holidays, and any use needed for our club teams. Practices will be closed to spectators.

The coaching staff will consist of experienced club coaches and also some new coaches who will be mentored by our club staff. Each court will have 2-3 coaches who are dedicated to helping your athlete improve.

Our local teams will not participate in any travel tournaments, but will have the opportunity to scrimmage amongst each other at practices. We will also do 1 end of session local tournament against the other local session athletes and our club teams.

The normal cost will be $650 per athlete. However, since this is our first time offering this service and we will be mentoring new staff / working out all the details of how we’d like to run it, we will be offering our session #1 athletes at $550 per athlete. This includes the 20 practices, 1 end of session local tournament, and a Wildflower T-shirt. If you are interested in signing up please see the Tryouts / Placement page of our website. We will be accepting 48 athletes.

Girls indoor travel club volleyball teams:

where are practices and how often?

We have traditionally practiced out of Apple Valley Unified School District gyms, we occasionally use the Town Of Apple Valley gym, and when all else fails we will practice out in the grass or do a team bonding. All teams will aim to have two - two hour practices a week (subject to change based of off the districts / towns availability, as school / town events receive priority gym usage). Specific practice schedules for each team will not be available until after all tryouts conclude (around the beginning of November). We will do our absolute best to keep practice days and times consistent throughout the season, but it will unfortunately change every once in a while, again we do not receive priority gym time as an outside organization. The season runs approximately from November to end of May / June, and will have slightly different start dates and end dates depending on your age group and team level.

how do games work?

Our teams participate in “regional” tournaments ran by the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA). Regional SCVA tournaments take place in facilities all throughout Southern California, so we will travel for all of these events, plan to book the whole day for volleyball. We do not find out the time or location of these events until the week of the event (we do know the dates, those will be available at the beginning of the season). We will typically play 3 games per tournament and will also have officiating duties as well.

There will be parking and spectator entrance fees at every tournament, I do not control the pricing of those. Every facility will set their own prices that typically range from $5-$20 each for spectator entrance, and $10-$30 for parking. Athletes and coaches enter for free. There is typically not very many facilities that can handle a huge amount of spectators, you will find everywhere we go they will pack you in like sardines - just so your mentally prepared.

In addition to regional SCVA tournaments, the teams may also have the opportunity to attend overnight travel tournaments as well, that typically take place in Las Vegas, NV or Phoenix, AZ. Most overnight travel tournaments will have mandatory “stay and play” policies that we will have to comply with in order to participate. Depending on the tournament we will need to have some or all families book through the specific links sent through the tournament.

How are teams and coaches chosen?

Teams will be formed at the discretion of our club directors, with input from our coaches. There are several factors that are considered when deciding to form a team:

Age - do we have enough athletes around the same age?

Skill level - do we have enough athletes around the same skill level?

Positions - do we have a good balance of athletes in all positions?

Commitment level - does the team want to participate in many tournaments, or a few?

Gym availability - can we get the necessary gym time for the projected amount of teams?

Coaching staff - do we have a coach that will fit well with this specific team and their needs?

If the answer is yes to all of these questions, then we will form a team. Your team may have 1-3 coaches depending on the needs of your team, as decided by the club directors. Our club directors will do their best to be present at as many practices and tournaments as possible to support all of these awesome athletes.

HOw much does the season cost?

Pricing for the season (about 7 months) varies depending on the team level your athlete is placed on. All team levels will be decided by the directors based on skills and athlete budget needs. This means that I cannot tell you how much it will cost until tryouts, every year will bring new athletes and desires to participate on different team levels.

The cost includes tournament fees, registrations, insurance, coach’s pay, facility rentals, equipment, and uniform packages (among other things). The cost does not include any travel, hotels, or any parking or spectator entrance fees into tournaments. Please understand that deciding to participate in club volleyball will end up costing you much more than just the season dues. You will have gas, entrance fees, parking fees, possible hotels, kneepads, shoes, etc. Club volleyball is a huge time and financial commitment that should be thoughtfully considered before accepting a spot on a team.

All team levels will require a $700 deposit. Deposit will be paid on commitment night, after accepting a spot on a team. You may decide to pay the remaining balance in full and receive a 5% discount, or set up a payment plan. A 15% sibling discount is also available, and will be taken off of the lowest level team dues.
